A: That is up to You!

Here is why most people hate and can’t stay on diets, they are too restrictive and mentally stressful.

People have cravings and likes of certain foods even if they may not be 100% ideal, that is just reality. I know that….and that is one of the many reasons I wanted no part in a restrictive eating plan.

I can guide you to make smarter choices (as once you see how food affects you, you start making better choices for health and weight loss), but in the end you have to make sure that you are not feeling “deprived” of anything.

A: Ummm….Sure….why not?

I see all the time diets, pills and crazy looking machines advertising how to get “ripped abs” (too bad none of the models for that product ever used the program/pill/machine….nice marketing scam huh?).

Let me make it simple for you, everyone has a six pack…but you are not going to see it under a layer of fat! I can’t tell you how many overweight people at the gym I see doing endless ab-work when it won’t make a difference (as you can’t spot reduce either!).

If you are spending hours doing ab workouts then you may want to keep this little motto in your head…..“Abs are made in the kitchen”! (Since the majority, upwards of 80%, of fat loss comes from how and what you eat….not solely how often you workout!)

When you eat correctly and enough healthy foods, your metabolism will NOT slow down and you will NOT go into a starvation mode (like most “crash diets” that advertise quick weight loss…..only to not tell you all the people who do it gain all the weight back!).

A: The Real Question Should be “How Long Can You Keep it Off?”!

Remember all those “crash diets” we talked about earlier? Well anyone can do that, but what happens….the body slows down its metabolism, the weight loss plateaus, the person gives up on the “diet”, the weight packs back on and now the metabolism is in worse shape than before the diet ever started!

Realistically people should be looking at 1-2lbs of weight (fat) loss to happen per week. Can some lose quicker than others? Sure…especially if they are more overweight and have more to lose.

Also it is interesting to note that a large chunk of initial weight loss with any diet (esp lower carb) will be mostly water in the first 7-10days. But after that initial drop it is reasonable to lose 1-2+ lbs a week.

Just imagine….a simple lifestyle…no effort….losing 2lbs a week….over a month….2 months….etc. That is real and lasting weight loss!

Don’t go for the quick fix….because the people I see saying “I need to drop 20-30lbs in a month” are usually doing the same thing year after year after year….when they could of just had a simple lifestyle approach and got results for life.
